19 October 2008, Rome - The 3rd Run for Food Race took place as part of 2008 World Food Day events starting and finishing at the Stadium of Terme di Caracalla outside of FAO. The 5 kilometer run was organized by the Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani, in collaboration with FAO, IFAD, WFP, Bioversity International and the FAO Staff Coop, with the support of the Comune di Roma. FAO Goodwill Ambassador Ms. Justine Pasek, Ms. Universe 2002 from Panama was "madrina" for the event, with Fiona May, Olympic medalist, as well as Italian media anchorman Jimmy Ghione, acting as  testimonials for the race, which was part of the Millennium "Stand Up" Campaign". A 10 km competitive race was also accredited for professional runners. The FAO Staff Coop organized a Cultural Show, Bazaar and Food Fair on the occasion. Proceeds derived from registration fees and sources will be used to fund TeleFood projects in the Horn of Africa.
