15 October 2008 - CFS Side Event: (ODGS-CSO/NGO): Rural Producers' Event, Ibrahim Coulibaly, La Via Campesina.
The Thirty-fourth Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) was held from 14 to 17 October 2008, in FAO's Headquarters (Plenary and Red room). The CFS is a standing committee of the FAO Council and serves as a forum in the United Nations system for review and follow-up of policies concerning world food security. It also examines major problems and issues affecting the world food situation, monitors stakeholder actions and proposes necessary steps to promote the goal of world food security. The CFS is open to all Members of FAO and the UN, and involves representatives of other international agencies, NGOs, civil society and private sector. This year the CFS will focus on the impact of high food prices on food security, including several side events and a Special Event.
