GCP /AFG/042/EC - Support to the Food, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Information Management and Policy Unit (FAAHM) in Developing an Agricultural Statistics and Market Information System - Phase II. The development objective of the project is to strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of the Government to formulate and execute agricultural development strategies, policies and programmes that would enhance national food security and alleviate rural poverty. The immediate objectives of the project are to assist the MAF in developing an Agricultural Statistics and Market Information System (ASMIS) in support of agricultural development planning and policy making, with particular focus on food security and poverty alleviation; strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of MAF and CSO in: Providing timely and more reliable agriculture and price data; conducting and reporting on marketing studies, and; Doing situational and policy analysis for the use of decision makers.
