AFGHANISTAN 2025. Foot and Mouth disease vaccination campaign
09 January 2025. Nangarhar province, Afghanistan. Dairy cows are a significant source of livelihood for many households in rural areas of Afghanistan, contributing to income generation.
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a severe, highly contagious viral disease that has a significant economic impact on ruminants. The disease affects cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, and other cloven-hoofed ruminants. FMD is an endemic disease in Afghanistan with high morbidity rate while it is rarely fatal in adult animals, but there is often high mortality in young animals.
