African army worm outbreak in Liberia.
African army worm outbreak in Bong Country, Liberia. According to early assessment teams fielded by the Government of Liberia (GOL), the caterpillars were found to have Dahome and Terminalia as their preferred host plants. Both are huge forest trees, upon which they breed in large numbers, defoliating the trees. In addition to these trees, they also attack other plants, including food crops. The pests were found to attack practically all economic and food crops. Their droppings pollute the waters rendering them unwholesome for human use.
