Fish strung on bamboo poles to dry in the sun. They become as hard as wood and can then be stacked in piles. - - Strengthening Marine Fisheries Resource Management, Research and Development. With FAO/UNDP help, the Bangladesh Government is surveying the fish resources of the Bay of Bengal, particularly those areas lying within its Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ). The survey extends also to brackish waters and estuaries. The country's current five-year programme also includes increasing and improving onshore facilities for fish treatment, training in diversified fishing technologies, and the expansion of the coastal and offshore fishing fleet.
