Following the 2006 military conflict with Israel, much agricultural land was left contaminated by unexploded ordnance. Fields are being cleared by United Nations Mine Action Coordination Centre for South Lebanon (UN MACC SL). Two FAO post-conflict projects for the agricultural sector (OSRO/LEB/701/UNJ - Title: Early Recovery Assistance for the Agriculture Small-holder, and OSRO/LEB/702/UNJ - Title: Early Recovery Assistance to War-affected, Resource-poor Livestock Keepers in Southern Lebanon) worked in close cooperation with UN MACC SL.
