Farmers in an Andean village try out a Japanese plough, which was donated for demonstration purposes by French schoolchildren trough the Freedom from Hunger Campaign. - - The Andean mission.. The Mission has assumed the task of integrating the Andean population, which lives principally in remote rural villages high in the Andes, into the active life of the nation. Thus, its activities have the specific scope of social and economic improvement in rural areas, and include: organization of men's women's and young people's clubs; education; health services; social services; agricultural development; for which the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) provide expert services through the Expanded Programme of Technical Assistance and the Freedom from Hunger Campaign; development of artisan trades; personnel training; and community buildings programmes.
