03 March 2018, Mingkamen, South Sudan - Pastoralists are milking cows. Cattle keepers in Mingkamen, South Sudan, are tending to their cows. FAO supports cattle keepers by providing them with training (such as training on fishing, nutrition and milking), contrainers to store milk, as well as vaccines for the cattle. Rift valley fever is a constant threat in South Sudan as well and while there is no cure for the animals, cattle keepers are sensitised and learn about the dangers and ways to prevent it. In the camp, they live in basic conditins, putting ash on the cows to fend off mosquitos. *** Enhanced Knowledge and Education for Resilient Pastoral Livelihoods in South Sudan. Objectives: To improve Pastoral Livelihoods and Food and Nutrition Security in South Sudan.
