GAZA 2013. Emergency Programmes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip
14 December 2010, Gaza City - A fish vendor cleaning shrimp at the Gaza City Fish Market. A recent wave of bad weather prevented fishermen from going out to sea, resulting in a severe scarcity of fresh fish and a surge in prices.
FAO Project: Symbol OSRO/GAZ/804/ITA - Emergency support to needy fishermen in the Gaza Strip to restore their fishing activities. The principal objective of the project is the improvement of the food security status of 100 vulnerable fishermen families (700 persons) in Khan Yunis and Rafah areas in the Gaza Strip through the promotion of aquaculture as an alternative source of food and income.
