Background Information
Abdus Salam is a CBO leader of the Golda-Rice-Fish culture technology of the climate resilient fisheries intervention under the GEF Fisheries project (GCP/BGD/055/LDF). He used to catch small indigenous fish from their pond and open water bodies during the rainy season with a net. The caught fish will be used for family consumption as a safe source of animal protein and micronutrients. He is very happy to get his good catch for his family members. This type of consumption of rural populations comes from the artisanal fishing of Bangladesh. He knows about EAFM (ecological approach to fisheries management) from the training on fisheries and climate resilient aquaculture, jointly organized by the United Nations FAO and the Department of Fisheries (DoF), Govt. of Bangladesh.
