Background Information
This collection highlights school canteens, meal preparation, and the careful handling of leftover meals, demonstrating how safe, nutritious lunches reach students and, when unused, are redirected to support those in need. The programme took place in Budapest, Hungary, at the Kőrösi Csoma Sándor Bilingual Primary School, where an FAO 80th Anniversary lecture was held on sustainable diets. The FAO delegation was introduced to the school canteen, where the Hungarian Food Bank Association has installed a special freezer that helps save leftover, untouched cooked meals.
