Background Information
Following hostilities in 2006, much agricultural land was left contaminated by unexploded ordnance. The country's banana plantations were among the first to be cleared by United Nations Mine Action Coordination Centre for South Lebanon (UN MACC SL).
Two FAO post-conflict projects for the agricultural sector (OSRO/LEB/701/UNJ - Title: Early Recovery Assistance for the Agriculture Small-holder, and OSRO/LEB/702/UNJ - Title: Early Recovery Assistance to War-affected, Resource-poor Livestock Keepers in Southern Lebanon) worked in close cooperation with UN MACC SL.
