Background Information
The 50x2030 Initiative to Close the Agricultural Data Gap aims to revolutionize agricultural data systems across 50 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America by 2030. As one of the initiative's leading partners, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) plays a pivotal role in enhancing agricultural data production. By collaborating closely with national statistical offices and related ministries, FAO helps strengthen national agricultural survey systems and facilitates access to high-quality agricultural statistics.
Through its technical assistance in 31 countries, FAO empowers governments with the tools to produce and disseminate critical agricultural data and indicators. These data enable nations to assess the impact of their agricultural policies, meet international monitoring requirements, and make informed, data-driven decisions that support sustainable agricultural development.
