Philippines. Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Farmers need to begin looking at the rice ecosystem from the point of view of maximizing profits without destroying the system. This arises from a firm understanding of the relevant IPM concepts for each stage of crop growth, from planting to harvest. - - Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Rice: GCP/RAS/NET 145. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a technique by which farmers encourage the natural enemies of the pests attacking their crops. These enemies, such as wasps and spiders, then help eliminate the pests, reducing the need for pesticides which not only burden the farmer and nation financially but endanger farm worker's and health environment. In this case IPM is being used on rice production.
