18 January 2016, Rabiya District, Ninewa Governorate, Iraq - UN FAO head of office Fadel El Zubi and OCHA Humanitarian Affairs Officer Sylvia Rognvik are shown a new water well built with funds from UN FAO works near the Mosul Dam Pumping Station. FAO's funds, used on the main Al Jazeera irrigation canal, are part of a project to resupply water for agricultural production for the first time since the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) took the area in 2014. Objectives are to provide job opportunities and income for 500 families, enable 5,000 farmers to grow crops for trade and food through restoring water supply for agriculture, helping farming communities to regain stability.
