Abu Ali, who is assisted by FAO in the area of Al-Ghizlaniyah Rural Damascus. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Syria Veterinary Medical Association, has completed an animal health campaign to protect 1.3 million sheep and goats and 65 000 cattle from highly contagious animal diseases in Syria.Six years of conflict has undermined Syria's veterinary services and a shortage of vaccines has increased the risk of infection. The three-month campaign has been able to provide vital animal health treatment that has protected the livelihoods of some 39 000 households (234 000 people).
