Emergency Agricultural Assistance to households hit by the 2005 drought, the cassava mosaic disease and victims of armed conflict for the 2007 cropping seasons - OSRO/BDI/606/EC. The specific objectives of the project aim to: distribute 1,000 tonnes of bean seed, 10 kg per household; provide households organized into specific groups or associations soybean seeds and sorghum, crops which are more tolerant to drought than beans; increase fat sources in diets through the distribution of groundnut seeds to vulnerable households; replenish soil fertility and fight against erosion through the distribution of healthy cuttings and seedlings, mainly to returnee households; assist vulnerable households to cultivate and multiply 400 ha of cassava varieties tolerant to severe cassava mosaic disease through the provision of lime, fertilizer, pesticides; distribute sweet potato varieties rich in beta carotene to improve household nutrition;
provide tools to the most vulnerable households for their own use or to allow them to earn income through their labour (work for hire).
