Background Information FAO is teaming up with the 50x2030 Initiative and the Government of Tanzania to implement the Women's Empowerment and Nutrition Module (WEN) and minimum dietary diversity for women data.

Women are key for agriculture and food security, but their role is often invisible. Gathering gender- disaggregated data through large-scale agricultural surveys is a first step to collecting data on women’s empowerment/dietary diversity.

More and better data is crucial for accelerating progress on women’s empowerment and gender equality in agrifood systems. Success with WEN can be scaled up in the country and region.
