Background Information
The "Building Back Better and Greener" program blends COVID-19 recovery with sustainable development. In Isiolo County, FAO and the government of Kenya teamed up with local Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) registered with the Department of Social Development. Together, they tested an approach that combines cash grants with capacity building around climate adaptive livestock practices, early warning systems, business development, social protection, and conflict management. FAO assesses the impact of this approach.
