Background Information
As part of the GEF-funded FAO project “Facilitating agrobiodiversity conservation and sustainable use to promote food and nutritional resilience in Tajikistan,” a visit was made to the Khujai Sabz farm seed bank in Baljuvon district. Local households shared how they grow traditional crops like onions, beans, fruits, rhubarb and cumin to preserve agrobiodiversity. The project provided seeds, equipment and materials, and helped strengthen the seed bank’s storage, documentation and seed exchange under the leadership of Komilov Hollnazar.
