Background Information
Under the JOHAR programme, village producer groups in Gumla receive support to enhance high-value agriculture through access to quality vegetable seeds at low cost and the establishment of poly-house nurseries. These nurseries, supplied with inputs by JOHAR, enable the healthy growth of seedlings such as brinjal, beans, and pulses, which are later transplanted to fields for cultivation. The Sarhul Ajeevika Farmer Producer Company Limited, set up under JOHAR, facilitates the marketing of these crops by providing farmers with market information and support to secure the best possible prices, ensuring higher returns and more sustainable livelihoods for smallholder producers.
