UKRAINE 2024. Lettuce producer has received FAO support
23 November 2024. Lvivska oblast, Ukraine. Serhii Lenchuk, director of Galicia Greenery, runs a 0.8-hectare greenhouse producing 2 million heads of lettuce annually for retail, foodservice, and wholesale buyers. The full-scale invasion brought challenges like rising energy costs, logistical issues, and power outages, with deliveries halted for two months. Thanks to a grant from FAO and the European Union, Serhii installed a 62 kW solar station and inverters, ensuring uninterrupted power and covering up to 100% of summer energy costs.
