RWANDA 2011.  Wildlife and Climate Change
12 November 2011, Burera District, Rwanda - Water which feeds the Ntaruka Hydroelectric Power Plant. Recently the flow from Lake Burera has been restored and the power station is operating at full capacity. The restoration of the capacity of the power plant has restored biodiversity in the area and people have benefited in many ways, from improved fishing in the lake, a cleaner water supply, to increased tourism providing job opportunities and other livelihoods training.
