RWANDA 2011.  Wildlife and Climate Change
15 November 2011, Kinigi, Rwanda - Infant gorilla Ihirwe (meaning Luck in Kinyarwanda) playing with Orphan Gorilla Care Giver Innocent Kabendera at the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project's quarantined facility. Ihirwe suffered from a severe respiratory infection, most likely contracted from humans, and was rescued from poachers on 7 August 2011. She is recovering well and there are plans to move her to a long-term refuge.
