24 May 2012, Mao, Chad - FAO Goodwill Ambassador footballer Raul Gonzalez playing football with two teams from the Farcha Football Center during travels to Chad in support of joint efforts of FAO and the European Commission to help enable the most affected populations of the Sahel crisis feed themselves again. The initiative falls under the "Professional Football against Hunger" campaign developed by FAO and the European Commission in collaboration with the Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL).
FAO Project: OSRO/CHD/105/EC - Supporting food security for households weakened by the crisis between Libya and Chad. Objectives: To reduce the impact of the Libyan crisis on food security on vulnerable returnee households. The targeted households will be kept to and will maintain a viable standard of living through the distribution of agricultural inputs (vegetable kits, seeds, tools and pesticides) and livestock (goats and animal feed).
