29 May 2013, Siaya District, Kenya - George William Ouma, extension worker and owner of Mukasa Complex Farm, carries excess foliage to cover exposed ground in his garden with. In 1998, Ouma was farming bananas but the BXW disease destroyed all his crop. In 2009, the Ministry of Agriculture visited his farm and a group was formed and trained for one year specifically to identify and control disease.
