Senegal, 2015. Processing produce
27 May 2015, Sangalkam, Senegal -Workers selecting and packing a load of Senegalese bitter aubergines near the local offices of the Research Centre for Fruit and Vegetable Development. The Senegalese Agency for the Promotion of Export (ASEPEX) has encouraged local communities to gather in associations where producers with an international market orientation are grouped in cooperatives: the fruit and the vegetables locally farmed are then brought to the Feltiflex centres where they are screened for shape, quality and appearance to fit international export criteria. The rest of the production is destined to local markets.
