14 February 2011, Asuncion - Removal technicians are monitored by health care professionals during the removal operation of obsolete pesticides at the Ex-OFAT warehouse.
FAO Project: UTF /PAR/015/PAR - Final disposal of pesticides resulting from the fire in the ex OFAT. To eliminate high risk fire damaged pesticides from an OFAT (Cotton production board) in the capital Asunción. Risk to the population of Asunción and the Rió Paraguay ? an international water body will be removed by complete elimination and safe destruction of all obsolete pesticides and contaminated materials at the OFAT Asunción pesticides store. Capacity will also be built in Paraguay to deal with similar hazardous waste and contamination problems in the future.
