22 October 2010, Somoni - A family of farmers awaiting news from the visiting veterinarian that all their livestock have been successfully treated for parasites. After years of being under rule of the Soviet Union, Tajik society became seccularized and with it, women became heads of households, land and animal owners and, as in this case, could be in the room with a male photographer without the presence of a male family member.
