September 2003, Bwindi - Women packing dried oyster mushrooms. Dried mushrooms are packed and labelled locally and sold in the main cities of Kabale and Kampala. The mushroom business provides an alternative income and therefore indirectly reduces pressure on the park by replacing destructive income activities such as timber cutting, poaching and gold mining.
