01 November 2013, KIROKA, TANZANIA - Habiba Msonga waters plants outside her home . After implementing SRI techniques, Msonga was able to finish building her home and is now planning on being one of the first homes with electricity in the area. "I feel so good. Initially my husband was very reluctant to get involved. But as soon as I started to get good yields, he changed his mind," says Msonga. A FAO project to strengthen capacity of farms for climate change is underway in Kiroka, Tanzania. "It's something we may call climate-smart agriculture," says mission project co-ordinator Prof. Henry Mahoo, who teaches at the Sokoine University of Agriculture. The project aims to improve land and water management, promote climate resilient agriculture and encourage dialogue and understanding regarding climate change adaptation practices.
