19 February 2018, Rural Damascus, Syria - FAO distributed 2000 winter vegetable seeds package of bean, peas, spinach, chard, cabbage seedlings and drip irrigation kit, to 2000 affected women headed-households in Rural Damascus. This intervention comes under a project where FAO reached a total of 3000 female-headed households (18 000 persons) in Rural Damascus and Homs governorates. By means of this intervention, the project aims to empower women by supporting them with a source of income, and improve their families' food and nutrition security through family farming.
This intervention comes in collaboration with UNFPA and targets affected communities with a variety of activities to enhance resilience through women empowerment and livelihood improvement .
