ETHIOPIA 1953. Anti-rinderpest vaccination
Ethiopia, March 1953 - This photograph shows the anti-rinderpest vaccinating team riding through a grove of candelabra euphorbia trees towards the little village of Gudar. The native tukuls can be seen in the distance. Each man carries a thermos flask filled with ampoules of vaccine kept on ice. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has sent a mission to Ethiopia to help modernize the country's agriculture and forestry. Working there are experts in crop production, animal production, animal diseases' control, rural welfare, forest development and nutrition. This mission includes a team of FAO veterinarians.
