Background Information
Project: OSRO/AFG/129/ASB
Deworming is crucial for livestock hygiene, preventing health issues and productivity loss caused by parasitic worms in animals like cows, sheep, and goats. Regular deworming is essential for optimal animal health and productivity.
Cattle are particularly susceptible to parasites after consuming infected green grass. These parasites can rapidly cause harm. Cattle should be dewormed at turnout and again before being taken off pasture in the fall to prevent gut damage.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has implemented deworming programs for livestock across Afghanistan.
