Background Information In eastern Paraguay, Indigenous and rural women are restoring forests and strengthening their livelihoods through the PROEZA project – Pobreza, Reforestación, Energía y Cambio Climático. Co-financed by the Government of Paraguay and the Green Climate Fund, and implemented by FAO, PROEZA links social protection and climate action to promote sustainable, climate-resilient livelihoods.

In Indigenous communities such as Y’aka Poty and Fortuna, with FAO support, participants like Teodora Vera and Elva Gauto combine traditional knowledge with agroforestry practices that provide food, income, and environmental protection for future generations.
