The immediate objectives of the project are: 1): rehabilitation of the fleet in support of fish production; 2) improvement of fish landing and distribution, providing a range of ancillary services to the Massawa/Dahlak artisanal fishing industry by funding the rehabilitation of existing landing facilities and by establishing fishery service centres in Massawa and Dahlak; 3) improvement of social infrastructure to improve the standards of living in the fishing villages. The project will support the construction of new schools and clinics to be staffed by the Departments of Education and Health of the PGE, the safeguarding of potable water supplies and the rehabilitation or new construction of fish markets.
