KENYA, 2020. Campaign to combat locust upsurge in East Africa
23 January 2020, Samburu County, Lengusaka, Kenya - An airplane takes part in the aerial spraying campaign to fight locusts in Kenya.
Ravenous swarms threatened entire East Africa subregion. FAO had scaled up its emergency response with a massive, border-spanning campaign needed to combat locust upsurge in East Africa. Given the scale of the swarms, aerial control was the only effective means to reduce the locust numbers.
