MONGOLIA 2015. Early warnings leads to more effective and timely responses in Mongolia.
Herders live in isolated communities on often badly degraded land, some of which needs 5 to 10 years to recover. In a tough dzud night temperatures can fall as low as minus 50 degrees Celsius and there is little money even for warm boots and clothing. Herder communities are widely indebted, facing bank loan limits of 100USD and very high interest rates.
