CABO VERDE. Turtle caught in small-scale catch
Turtles are sometimes caught by small-scale fishermen. - - The Programme for lntegrated Development of Artisanal Fisheries in West Africa (IDAF). The Programme for lntegrated Development of Artisanal Fisheries in West Africa (IDAF), is run by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). With headquarters in Cotonou, Benin, it is financed by the Danish lnternational Development Agency (DANIDA) and the Government of Norway. IDAF assists government departments and development agencies with the implementation of field projects that are identified, planned, and carried out with the full participation of the local population. Technical and organizational support is provided by nationally-staffed Fisheries Development Units. The Programme disseminates information and organizes training courses, workshops and seminars. Specialists and participants from associated countries regularly meet to discuss ideas and strategies. Project activities may vary from improving boats and gear to providing drinking water and health care. The IDAF network covers all aspects of fisheries, including research and technology.
