FAO Project: Assistance to the Small-scale Subsistence Fishery in Southern Sudan (Northern & Southern Sectors) - OSRO/SUD/204/UNO. The overall objective of the project is to acquire, distribute and make available fishing equipment to the mainly subsistence oriented fishing communities in order to increase the amount of fish landed for direct human consumption with the intention to re-establish coping mechanisms and raise the level of income of internally displaced people and women, hence enhancing the food security situation. Indirectly, the project will also provide technical support to the humanitarian partners involved in the fisheries sector.
