Background Information
EU funded. PROJECT: Working To: Contribute to the sustainable improvement of the food security and livelihood resilience of farmers and fishers affected by the protracted humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip
Project Duration : Oct 2018—March 2022
FAO is working to assist vulnerable farming and fishing households in the Gaza Strip to improve their food security and resilience with the aim of protecting and increasing food production and improving household incomes; through promoting the use of renewable solar energy to address immediate needs resulting from chronic and acute power shortages in the Gaza Strip. The project will also demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of renewable energy approaches in reducing energy costs and mitigating climate change and inform the formulation of a longer-term road map towards sustainable energy supply and management for agriculture in Gaza.
