10-13 June 2002, Rome--- The World Food Summit: five years later was attended by delegations from 179 countries plus the European Commission, 73 led by heads of state or government or their deputies. The Summit also represented an opportunity to reaffirm pledges to end hunger by calling an international alliance to cut the number of hungry people.
