UKRAINE 2024 Restoring livelihoods and revitalizing rural communities affected by mines and explosive remnants of war in Ukraine
16 March 2024, Kharkivska oblast, Ukraine - Volodymyr Korniich and his wife Liudmyla have a farm in Kamianka village, Kharkivska oblast. After the escalation of the war in February 2022 the village was captured by russian forces and was occupied for 6 months. The Korniich couple have found it difficult to reopen their farm because of landmines. FAO, together with WFP, is implementing a programme to clear landmines and support farmers in resuming operations. Volodymyr is also a participant in the project. He came to the agricultural warehouse to choose seeds and fertilizers for the spring sowing campaign. The cost of all the products will be covered by a voucher provided to Volodymyr by FAO.
