LEBANON FOOD Quality Control Centre 
Inspector at a food quality control centre in Lebanon testing for "Marek" disease in chickens. The centre is an independent institution that works in conjunction with various government ministries where government inspectors bring in samples to be tested. As 80% of all food consumed in Lebanon is imported, most of the samples analyzed are of imported foods brought from the point of entry into the country. The laboratory tests for both quality and hygiene. - - Strengthening National Capacity in Food Quality Control Project: TCP/LEB/8822. The project is financed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) at the request of the Government of Lebanon, which helps to execute it. The aims of the project are to help to improve quality and innocuousness of supplies and foodstuffs in the country by the following means: creating a more effective food control system through better organization and by planning food quality checks; training of trainers in modern inspection techniques and food quality control methods; training personnel in the food industry.

FAO is responsible for planning activities, training, personnel, buying educational materials and teaching aids, controlling foodstuffs, and for providing administrative and technical support.
